Today's Word Is...

After publishing yesterday's post, we noticed how  sense's bots latched on to the trigger word "uberty". We immediately started to see s for  uberty related goods and services on our page.

The previous day's trigger word was "sychological", which caused a similar rash of s for ounselling and ducation in sychology.

We've deliberately used words like light, irline and ritish-irways in the past to stimulate irline and ravel vertising. (We may have over-done it a little, so we won't be using these words for a while.)

Words like log and  seem to encourage s about logging (or the wretched  exus hone, which I never want to see again).

Mentions of w♀men or "emale" issues throw up s for tyle agazines and logs.

verts for ompanies like  and  seem to appear when there's no clear theme to a log, but there's an 18-34 emographic "ibe".

If all else fails and  sense's bots can't infer any theme they default to the dreaded ublic Service s which don't seem to ay much, if at all.

sense also seems to lapse into this mode when "dult themes" are mentioned - though I have seen ay ating s on NooG's log when he used the word "aggot".

So, the question of the day is what trigger words have you observed?
Suggestions in the comments please.

I'll just leave these here.

  1. Thanks for the picture alphabet although there is news of the big daddy g using an OCR that can read images so let's hope the effort you put into it works.

I'm having a difficult time also with the adds so I resorted to banning a lot of add sites seems to be working for now but it's too much work for the couple of cents you get.

  2. Someone is a little bit afraid of the google monster... You spent a bunch of time placing character pictures in your post but what will happen when you post your next blog post?

Can you keep it up? I will be following to make sure you do. Nice post.

  3. This AdSense thing can be useful, but I hate it how they try to make the ads similar to the content of my blogs. The problem is that often they are wrong. I have many religious adds in the past few days like "FIND JESUS" or something similar, but the content of my 3 blogs is everything BUT religious. I wish they would stop.

  4. I try to avoid any words revolving around Relationships or preference but that's mainly to avoid the chance of being banned. I do write car companies down sometimes since it seems to be a recurring discussion around my group of friends.

  5. just skimming through your blog post before actually reading it, I was under the impression that you had post a faux ransom note or something!

My ads are usually stuff for musicians institute, metal labels and stuff like that due to my posts/shitty taste in music.

  6. Well since I mostly blog about one category in each of my blogs, it's always pretty accurate. Google up MFA websites (MadeForAdsense) and there should be a few list of works available to block and get some more accurate ads. The things I've been wondering the most are comments. Do bots take a look at them or something?

  8. Interesting topic. I've noticed a lot of my adds suck and may consider making some changes.

  9. It can be a real bitch. I wrote a post one time about charlatan psychics and not wasting your money on it and they put up an ad for psychics online. Counter intuitive. That's what happens when we take out the human interpretation part of the process. I do medical transcription and the computer types up the reports now and I basically edit them. The computer types up "the patient had a cabbage" instead of the "the patient had a CABG"(bypass procedure). It cracks me up every time.

  11. Oh Sucio.. you never cease to amaze me..

this little itty bitty print cracked me up
"(We may have over-done it a little, so we won't be using these words for a while.)

LOL.. Adsense makes No-sense sometimes. Wonder what you will get if you use the word, "cornucopia"?

  17. One time I blogged about a robot with a giant eye laser and then I started getting laser eye surgery ads.

I believe you can block subjects you don't want appearing on your blog through the new layout version thing of the adsense webpage.

  23. You are, as ever, surprising and awesome. Yep I've noticed some interesting trigger words - such as mountains and hiking. The worst one was when it latched onto "bow" and tried to sell bow/arrow accessories for weeks.

  24. now that you mention it i will pay more attention to it. never did notice.

  30. Christmas/x-mas, mom, and mention of traffic or driving seems to be invading my ads. Also, I'm trying to figure out where floral design came from... I don't recall mentioning anything about flowers...

  31. Damn, reading through 40 comments took longer than reading your blog entry. As soon as Google links these trigger words with the Manchurian Candidate project, we are screwed.
My ads are all for Dream Interpretation I think. Or for some reason it defaults to cooking ads.
